Production Studio 3

17/03/2016 - Process and Production

In this session, I had to use the letters and the alphabet that I designed to create words so I took this opportunity to create different types of font/typography using this idea of letters and numbers and this is what I have produced (seen below).

For the word 'Hello', I decided to create a bold look that looks mature and structured. What I did with the numbers was, if it was just one number then it would be placed on the bottom right corner but if it was two numbers then the first number would be placed at the top and the second number would be placed at the bottom so if someone had to read that, they read the top part first then look down.
I added the scratch look because I thought it looked a bit bland without anything in the letters and I think it looks better now because it gave character to the look.
This was done using pencil first then I went over it with a fine liner.

For the word 'Dan', I went for more of a 'groovy' look which can be seen with the 'A' that I designed. With the numbers, I decided to go with a different approach, with one number, I placed them wherever felt right but with two numbers, I placed the first number at the bottom and for the second number, I placed it at the top so opposite of what I did with the word 'Hello'.

For this one, I decided to create something that was different than the other two that I created so I decided to play around with it. The meaning of this is that the numbers represent ants and the letters represent the food, so the ants are carrying the food back to their place which is represented by the arrow that is telling the viewer where the ants are going.
I was pleased with this one because it is very creative and out there but at the same time, I wished I used a different word than 'Bag' because it doesn't relate to the meaning behind this at all and at first glance, it's hard to know what it means.

For this one, I decided to create a different version of my idea, I combined the letters and numbers in a different way to see how it would look. The idea behind this is that I combine the number and letter as one so place the number into the letter.
I feel like some worked but others didn't, for example, I think the 'B' worked, the 'B' and '2' does look like they are meant to be together but other ones like 'C' and '3', I felt like it didn't work because of the fact that I had to flip the 3 to compliment with the letter and it doesn't look good.
After doing this, I still prefer the other designs that I have done than this one because of the fact that my other designs have worked and I even created an alphabet with it.
