In this seminar, I had to print off and bring the first paragraph of my essay that I have wrote to the seminar to get some feedback.
This is the first paragraph of my essay.......
Brand versus Anti-brand. How have Graphic Designers and/or Animators worked with or against brands, and to what effect?
'This essay will look at how companies and designers have worked with brand and anti-brand to their advantage in a way to sell their products and if they have been affected by brands and anti-brands as it can work both ways. The information found will be analysed and compared at the end to see which would be more suitable and beneficial for a new company to have, to see if a new company can be successful without advertising their products or having a brand.
The essay will also look at how branding like advertisements can manipulate and has manipulated people into buying a certain product and at times, convincing customers into buying something in spite of the fact that they don't require it. It draws to the attention of how powerful branding can be and how it has the ability to manipulate people but what about anti-brand? How do they manipulate customers into buying a product?'
The feedback I got was that it was clear to what question I was answering by reading the first paragraph which I think is good and I'm happy that I have made it clear to what question I am doing.
Another feedback was to shorten my first sentence because it feels too long which I agree, it would be better with a short but effective sentence.
The final feedback was to include examples but I agree again because it lacks examples to strengthen and back up my statements.
I feel like I got useful feedback because I got feedback from another pair of eyes instead of just mine. I got feedback on things that I wouldn't have thought of on my own and I know now what to do to improve the first paragraph of my essay.
