14/10/2015 - Seminar
'Reflective thinking and writing'
Reflection - ongoing process of thinking about your development.
Process of reflection
- Identifying strength/weakness
- Find a solution
- How you developed/What I have learned
- Influences
- Key points
- Don't include unnecessary details
- Formal (not conversational style)
- Set targets for improvement
I was given a sheet with the title 'Reflective (Triple-Entry) Journal' which was a sheet with questions that will help me when I come to reflective writing. My task was to think about something that has happened to me since I started University and answer the questions.
Scenario - My first day at University
-How did you feel? I felt tired because I woke up really early but excited.
-What went well? I made it on time.
-What could have been better? If the University started later on would have been ideal for me.
-Would you do anything differently? I would have made a bacon sandwich in the morning to wake me up.
-What have you learnt from this experience? I have learnt that I am able to wake up at 6am.

My opinion
I think this was a useful seminar as it will prepare me for when I have to write about a specific thing like my own work and the sheet I was given will make my job easier as I can just answer the questions on the sheet and it will help me. Usually in the past, I would struggle to know what to write.
