25/01/2016 - Lecture
In this lecture we looked at different videos and pieces from people that relates to our project involving sound. I found this lecture useful because there were some pieces that I have liked and could influence me into making something of myself.
I have generated some ideas from some of the pieces which I will talk later on.
Strings: J.S. Bach - Cello Suite No. 1 - Prelude from Alexander Chen on Vimeo.
This is a video from Alexander Chen that I enjoyed. It looks simple as it is just lines and circles but it's effective because it's timed well and it does look real in a sense of it looks like the tune is playing because of the lines and circles instead of the lines and circles being made because of the tune.
This gave me an idea of creating something similar where I use shapes and lines to represent the notes of a song or use the shapes to create an instrument like a drum instead of actually using a real drum, it will be just a representation of it. I could create something like this in After Effects.
AANAATT (by Max Hattler) from Max Hattler on Vimeo.
This is a video that caught my attention, it caught my attention because it's a stop-motion animation, it's something I have never done before so it was interesting to see how someone made a stop-motion animation relating to sound.
This is something I could do, I could learn how to create a stop-motion animation, it would be good to learn a new process and it would be good for my project because it would expand my research and experiments as I would have a range of different processes.
Danger Beach - Apache from oneedo on Vimeo.
I like this one because there's a little story going on whilst the music is going on so it keeps the viewer occupied and thinking about what might happen next. This is something I could do, I could create a story that relates to a song so it helps the viewer understand the tune and lyrics more and it will give the song more of a meaning.
Conclusion
This lecture was interesting and useful because I got to see what other people have done that relates to sound, I like how each example is different so I got to see a range of different types of ideas and processes being used which is something I should be aiming to do as well. From this lecture, I also thought of some ideas that I could do
