How to have an idea

5/10/2015 - Lecture

Throughout the lecture, I observed at what could relate to me when I'm doing my project, I noticed the part where it talks about new ideas being derived from the old and how my mind combines old ideas and existing materials to produce new ideas, combinations and connections so it has a sense of Genealogy, in the sense of tracing back and linking it to the present.

One of the processes that relates to me is the 'Double Diamond' process because it's how I work and the process that I go through like discover part is the gathering information part, primary and secondary, the define part is looking at what you got and think of an idea from the research you gathered which is where the brief comes in, the develop part is obviously the development part and the deliver part is producing and finishing your work so I could use this process for my project by following each step in the correct order and make sure I have not missed a step.

I like the brainstorm method because the ideas don't have to be the correct ones on the first try, you are just 'spitting' out different ideas and see if you could connect some together which enables a person to generate a large amount of ideas that doesn't have to be big ideas, they could be small.

What I have gathered from the presentation is that there are various ways to think, each different to each other so a person might think one method works but other methods don't so I think it's a matter of the type of person you are and how you think that determines what method is useful to you.
