'Stencil Std Bold' from Daniel Boscarino on Vimeo.
In this session, I had to pick a font and create a short video involving that font using After Effects, I decided to use 'Stencil Std Bold' because I liked the way it looked, it's bold and will grab the audience's attention.
Before I could create the video, I had to use Illustrator to get the font and I had to create a storyboard as a way to help me see how the video will play out. The idea of how it will look like was that since the font had the word 'Bold', I wanted the word 'Stencil' to start off small then each word increases in size and for 'Bold', it would be big and bold and in the viewer's face. I created each part separately on Illustrator which I then uploaded it on After Effects.
I have learned something that I didn't know before before I used it, I used techniques that I have used before like how to position every part of the video in a way that it wasn't too quick or too slow so the video played smoothly.
What I have learned is how to make each word and object move out of the shot and into the shot but also how to make it move vertically and horizontally which led to me being able to rotate or position the text if I wanted to, I had the knowledge and tools to control the movement of my text.
I picked on the word, went to 'transform' then 'position' which then allowed me drag the word to wherever I wanted and for how long which can be seen in the video from the start with the word 'Stencil' which moves out of the shot. I basically used that technique with other words and objects throughout the video, the only problem I had was to make everything move at the right pace but I fixed it, took some time but I fixed the problem.
The idea behind the long, thin rectangles was to make the video look slightly more busy since I'm only using three words, it looked a bit too boring so I added the long, thin rectangles so that there is more than one thing happening in the video.
I liked the last part the best where as the word 'bold' is travelling down, the rectangles are travelling up, down and out of the frame and I like it because it looked like the word and rectangles worked as one and travelled at the same speed so it complimented each other.
